Home made Amond milk and Almond pulp

Wow, I have been away the past 6 weeks and had a great time exploring health cafe's, books and health food shops in my travels while coming back with determination to try new foods and have so much to write about!! For now I need to settle with a simple almond milk blog while I get my studies under control :)

I am following an alkaline cleanse diet for a week after all my travels (and admittedly a few too many treats!). One thing I made was a raw cinnamon granola.... so excited!! I have wanted to make a granola for so long and not sure why I hadn't as it is surprisingly easy to make! I love my dehydrator even more now that I have discovered raw granola :D and to go with it I needed some home made almond milk...

I soaked one cup of almonds in water overnight (4 hours will be sufficient)

Rinse and drain almonds and transfer to a blender with 3-4 cups of water depending on how you like your almond milk consistency.

You may add a teaspoon of vanilla or cinnamon if you like flavour :)

Blend for around 30 seconds until a nice milky consistency is formed....

I have a living synergy nut milk bag and drained my milk through this before transferring into mason jars in the fridge...

They are wonder bags and so easy to clean by rinsing under water!

Simply squeeze the milk out and you're left with the pulp :)

Then transfer milk into jars...

And the pulp I was very excited about - do not throw it away!! This can be made into bliss balls or cookies, any baking really. But I dehydrated mine (you could use the oven) and added it to my granola with some left over to put through the processor for almond flour and some up and coming bliss balls (stay tuned!!).
