Background

Welcome! I should start with a little about myself, I am 22 years old studying at university, not too far from becoming a doctor. I have competed in athletics since i was 7 years old (a big love of mine!) played netball, soccer and a few years of swimming. I grew up in the country, i love the clean country air, green countryside, fresh foods and local communities. I love my family and friends dearly and cannot imagine my world without them. I am very fortunate with my life and where i am today and believe we should all make each day count and take any opportunity that comes our way. Since i was young i have learnt that sports, hobbies, being outdoors and having a wonderful group around you brings so much happiness no matter what age you are or how you are involved. Over the years i have learnt the value of a balanced life. Balancing studies, sports, hobbies, friends and family and of course having time to ones self for relaxation and recuperation. Balance is vital. But it is not only the balance outside our bodies, it is the balance within us as well, inside and out one cannot function without the other. Treat yourself well inside and it will show on the outside and your life will explode with energy, passion and basically LIFE!

Growing up i valued my mother and how she looked after us, always encouraging us to have hobbies, always feeding us our vege's and daily bowel of chopped fruit we loved to nibble sitting in front of the ABC cartoons, and i loved the home baking she would do to put in our lunch boxes as a treat and enjoyed seeing the faces of my friends when my sisters and i would pull out this wonderful lunch box of homemade sandwiches, chopped veges and baking! Starting a balance early helps you keep it later on in life as you realise you cannot go without it but it is never too late to start! Eat clean, train mean, live lean and don't forget to treat yourself.

The past year i have found the phenomenon of 'Super-foods' and bought them into my life, furthermore i completed a Sugar-free diet for 8 weeks (a mighty task with my sweet tooth!) and actually saw my body transform into a leaner shape and since then i have made active changes in my life, reduced sugar craving and opened myself to a world of wonderful foods to fuel my body and soul in such small easy steps! I have learnt what the body needs for exercise, for training and for busy days running around the hospitals, at university, at work or for life in general. I have dedicated myself to reach sporting goals, general fitness goals, work goals, mind goals and individual health goals and watched others do so too.

We learn from each other and from ourselves, i am still only 22 and i am hungry to learn more!! I want to become a doctor who 'WALKS THE TALK' so that when i see my patients and i give them lifestyle advice they cannot say 'but you are overweight, you smoke and you sit at your desk all day!' i want to be encourage, motivate and inspire my patients. I believe we cannot simply rely on medications and surgeries, they only fix a problem when it is already too late, it is up to us to PREVENT future problems and EXTEND our LIFE to reach our maximum potential and QUALITY of life. Every one has the power to change their quality of life, to increase what they can get out of life and to live a life that they love... NO EXCUSES!!!

And i want to help, i want you to realise this. AND i want to learn more myself, from you, i will walk the talk so that i can give advice to as many people as possible to live our life to the fullest. How you say? Well here i will find everyday inspirational people who do not let excuses come into play, who REACH NO LIMITS and find ways to overcome hurdles NO MATTER HOW GREAT OR SMALL. I will teach you about SUPER-FOODS as i learn about them too, their benefits and how we can incorporate them into our life, i will teach you about FITNESS and exercises from cardio to weights. I will teach you about HEALTH, how to prevent disease and how to overcome certain illnesses as i come across them in my career. And above all i want to help ENCOURAGE and MOTIVATE you to apply simple yet wonderful new ways into your life. Don't just try, but DO! And remember...

There are NO EXCUSES!!!

P.S. And when things get tough, don't forget to smile :)
