Doggy Diet Trial Number 1!

Well i have finally read a few chapters of the book 'Real food for Cats and Dogs' and have learn about the digestive tract of my dogs and how their behaviors are still followed as in the wild! I highly recommend any dog or cat owner to get and read this book, it is never too late to put your lovable companion(s) on a healthy diet for THEM (remember they are not humans no matter how closely they can sometimes resemble us!).

My first step was to introduce some raw fruits and vegetables into their meals while keeping record of when and which vege's and fruits they may reject. They must reject them more than a couple of times before they are ruled out! So tonight i added some grated carrot to their usual chicken wings and canned/commercial doggy dinner combination...

A typical doggy dinner (plus the new addition of carrot!)
They seemed a little startled by the bright orange addition to their meals...

Lucy puzzled at the change!
And the result? Well Bella seemed to like hers except for the last few strands...

But Lucy, i think a few strands had disappeared but i will not give up hope for carrot for her just yet!

Maybe i will mix it into their food? This was only day one and i have a range of fruits and vegetables to try alongside making their meal times more random to suit their traditional dieting (and a fasting day!!) along with weighing their proportions so that they have 5% of their body weight in their meals with less than 10% of carbohydrates... that might take a while for them to get use to! But the Doggy Diet transformation no matter how big a mission has began :)
