The Rockin Rider - Green Smoothies

It's amazing how much better (and stronger!) you feel after a good nights sleep. Coming home from a good bike workout i was ready to give the green smoothies another go, and hence i developed 'The Rockin Rider!' Why the Rider?

1. It will rock your taste buds on a pleasant post-workout ride (or at any time of the day!)
2. It will help you (and me!) Rock and Ride through our journey of raw health and fitness and
3.... I have just been bike riding :P

The Rockin Rider - Green smoothie

The Rockin Rider

Chopped and ready!
Handful of spinach leaves
1 large celery stalk
1/2 sliced cucumber
1/2 apple (or whole)
1 banana
1/4 cup pea protein powder
1/4 cup shredded coconut
1 Tbsp Chia seeds
2 tsp Cacao powder
1/2 tsp Spirulina
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup water


Method

1. Prepare ingredients and chop the apple, celery, banana and cucumber to make the blending easier.


2. Place in the blender and blend away until smooth. I did 4 lots of 15 second bursts (we only have an old blender i didn't want to over heat it!!). NOTE: if you do not put the pea protein powder in this will be a raw smoothie (i will get raw protein powder one day soon).

 3. Serve with some berries (strawberries) on top! Yum...

 I had a little too much for me to handle at once so the rest i kept in a mason jar and took to work for a mid morning work snack! I was pleasantly surprised as the Chia seeds had soaked up the water and make a denser consistency which i rather liked, almost like a drinkable green smoothie pudding?


I was only too happy to answer the question of what i was drinking by my fellow workers who seemed amazed at both the contents and the outcome of the smoothie, maybe there are a few more green smoothie makers in the making very soon :)
