Food Matters - Doctors of the Future, Starting Now!

If you eat junk you feel like junk, if you eat fresh you feel fresh!!

Try it, you have nothing to lose but so much to gain :)

Fertiliser has 3 main nutrients - nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium but soil requires 52 minerals, where are the calcium, magnesium, iron and all the others?? If the soil is deficient so are the plants we eat, then we have the bugs and diseases attack them so we spray them with pesticides and fungicides and growth stimulants and all other chemicals!! Commercial vegetarian food is still toxic to us, it is nutrient deficient so we who eat it also become nutrient deficient and toxic ourselves.

Then we cook food. Even when lightly steaming your food you lose enzymes in it which help with digestion. When you cook your food your body goes through a process call digestive leukocytosis as the body cannot recognise the cooked food and regards it as a toxin. If we eat a diet that is more than 51% cooked food your body will react to it as though it is a foreign organism. If 51% of your meals are raw you will have no leukocytosis and your immune system will not be activated with a false alarm. Eat more than 51% raw foods and your immune system will benefit and you will not overburden your already burdened immune system especially with our high rates of immune disorders at the present.

We are not suppose to be tired in the afternoon, we are suppose to be alive and vibrant! You are what you eat, if you eat garbage, you will turn into garbage. You cannot punish your bodies without paying for it sooner or later. Vitamins can be used to prevent and treat illnesses, a deficiency can cause an illness, as a vitamin can be involved in so many normal bodily processes. When the body heals it heals everything with nutrition. Vitamins don't necessarily do it, they enable the body to heal itself through its normal mechanisms - so long as we provide it with the 'fuel' it needs in order to do so, lets give our body a chance! Give your body the nutrients it needs to heal itself.

"Let food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food"

Going through my medicine degree i have become astounded that we learn very little about nutrition. We ask our patients about their diet in the macroscopic view - do you eat fast food? how often? do you cook yourself? what is an average meal for you? These only provide a general idea of their risk of obtaining the many diseases and illnesses that can follow an unhealthy diet... the many diseases and illnesses facing the majority of our population today including diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer to name the most prevalent. But i want to PREVENT AND TREAT my patients and all those in my path with nutrition as well to ensure they live the best life and have the best chance of life possible! That is my goal and i am determined to make a difference.

I have been scanning the internet for nutrition advice for people in the health profession and came across this site which provided some relief that we as health professionals have some assistance and information to seek for nutrition AND how best to educate patients and those around us - by NutritionMD. I encourage all health workers to learn about nutrition if you have not already done so!!
